Terms of Service

Universes is an AI-powered text adventure platform that allows users to create universes, characters, and interactive stories. The service uses artificial intelligence (Anthropic's Claude) to generate dynamic narrative content based on user input and universe configurations. By using Universes, you agree to these Terms of Service.

To use Universes, you must create an account by providing a unique display name, valid email address, and password. Your display name is permanent and cannot be changed after registration. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.

You agree to:

• Provide accurate and complete registration information
• Keep your login credentials secure and confidential
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account
• Accept responsibility for all activities conducted through your account

Universes offers both free and paid subscription tiers. Paid subscriptions are billed through Stripe and may be charged on a monthly or annual basis, depending on the plan selected.

• Subscription fees are charged at the beginning of each billing period and are non-refundable except as required by applicable law.
• You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you will retain access to paid features until then.
• We reserve the right to change subscription pricing with reasonable notice. Price changes will not apply to your current billing period.
• All payment processing is handled by Stripe. By subscribing, you also agree to Stripe's terms and conditions.

Your Content: You retain ownership of the universes, characters, stories, and other creative content you create on Universes. We do not claim ownership over your user-generated content.

License Grant: By using the service, you grant Universes a limited, non-exclusive license to process your content as necessary to operate the platform. This includes sending your content to the Anthropic Claude API to generate AI responses. This license exists solely to provide you with the service and does not extend to any other use.

AI-Generated Content: Content generated by the AI is provided as part of the service. You may use AI-generated content within your adventures freely, but we make no guarantees regarding the originality, accuracy, or suitability of AI-generated output.

Universes uses artificial intelligence to generate story content. AI-generated text may contain inaccuracies, inconsistencies, or unexpected output. We do not guarantee the quality, coherence, or appropriateness of AI-generated content. The AI does not represent the views or opinions of Universes.

You acknowledge that AI-generated content is produced algorithmically and should not be relied upon as factual, professional, or expert advice of any kind.

You agree not to use Universes to:

• Create, store, or distribute content that is illegal under applicable law
• Harass, abuse, threaten, or intimidate other users or individuals
• Attempt to exploit, manipulate, or bypass the AI system in ways that violate these terms or applicable law
• Distribute malware, spam, or other harmful content through the platform
• Impersonate another person or entity
• Use the service to infringe on the intellectual property rights of others
• Engage in any activity that disrupts or interferes with the operation of the service
• Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to access the service without our express written permission

We reserve the right to remove content and suspend or terminate accounts that violate this acceptable use policy.

We strive to keep Universes available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. The service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time, with or without notice. We are not liable for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the service.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Universes and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, revenue, or profits, arising from your use of the service.

Our total liability for any claim arising from or related to the service shall not exceed the amount you have paid to us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.

You may terminate your account at any time by deleting it through the account settings. We may suspend or terminate your account and access to the service at our discretion if you violate these Terms of Service, engage in prohibited conduct, or for any other reason we deem necessary to protect the service or other users.

Upon termination, your right to use the service ceases immediately. We may delete your data in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Sections of these terms that by their nature should survive termination will remain in effect.

We may revise these Terms of Service from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.

These Terms of Service are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of the service shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation or, if necessary, through the appropriate legal channels in the relevant jurisdiction.
